What is Loneliness Awareness Week?

Loneliness Awareness Week was first launched by the Marmalade Trust in 2017 to raise awareness of loneliness and to create a support network where people can have open and honest conversations.

Mind blowing statistics

Recent studies suggest that it is one of the largest health concerns we face.

Did you know that long-term loneliness is as harmful as obesity or smoking 15 cigarettes a day? And that it is likely to increase your risk of death by 26%?

In total, 45% of adults (25 million people) sometimes feel lonely in England. And half a million older people go at least 5 or 6 days a week without seeing or speaking to anyone!
